Moustokouloura are traditional cookies made with local grape must and often accompanied by pekmez syrup. They are delicious cookies, very popular in Greece, and highly nutritional in terms of sugar content.

Ingredients: 2 glasses grape must, 2½ glasses olive oil, 2 glasses sugar, 2 packs baking powder, 2 tablespoons baking soda, 1 shot of brandy (or ouzo or tsipouro if you prefer), ½ teaspoon ground clove, 1½ teaspoon cinnamon, soft wheat flour (as much as needed).

Instructions: Mix the must, olive oil and sugar in a basin or a large bowl until the sugar melts a bit. Add the remaining materials one at a time, finally add the flour and mix until you have a soft non-sticky dough. Let the dough rest for half an hour. Shape the cookies in any form you like and cook in pre-heated oven at 200 degrees until golden brown (~20 minutes).
